About the Lecturer

Cambridge Muslim College was the original vision of Shaykh Abdal Hakim Murad, who continues to oversee and contribute to its work. Abdal Hakim was educated at Cambridge, Al-Azhar and London universities. He is currently the Shaykh Zayed Lecturer of Islamic Studies in the Faculty of Divinity at Cambridge University and Director of Studies in Theology at Wolfson College. He has published and contributed to numerous academic works on Islam, including as Director of the Sunna Project, and is a leading figure in inter-faith activity, notably as one of the signatories to the Common Word statement. He is well-known as a contributor to BBC Radio 4’s ‘Thought for the Day’.

The building is directly behind the college garden, and can be accessed by foot via Hills Road. If you park at St Anne’s Terrace or on St Paul’s Road, you can make your way via the College’s main building, Unity House, where there will be clear signs to guide you.

Please arrive by 10.30am. 



Drinks and light refreshments will be provided.

Unfortunately, we cannot permit entry for children under the age of 12. Children 12 and above can purchase a concession ticket but will have to be accompanied by an adult over 18 years of age.

This lecture will be recorded and uploaded on our YouTube channel as well as our Online Learning Platform along with other lectures in this series, offered as a free course.



We will offer a full refund five days prior to the event. After that, we will not be able to refund your ticket.

Unfortunately there is no disability access as the events space at 20 Cambridge Place is on the first floor and only accessible via the staircase. We aim to accommodate an audience of all abilities at future events, God willing.

There is no public parking available on St Paul’s Church or the Cambridge Muslim College grounds. Paid parking on St Paul’s Road has a 4-hour time limit.

There is also a car park at Queen Anne’s Terrace which is a 6-minute walk away.
