Abdal Hakim Murad

Academic Bio

Dr Abdal Hakim Murad is the Chair of the Board of Trustees and Founder of Cambridge Muslim College, the UK’s premier institution of Islamic learning and research. Educated at the Universities of Cambridge, Amsterdam and al-Azhar, he is the author of several books, including the Cambridge Companion to Classical Islamic Theology, and Travelling Home: Essays on Islam in Europe. Since 1997 he has been Lecturer in Islamic Studies at the Faculty of Divinity in the University of Cambridge, and a fellow and director of studies at Wolfson College. He has appeared regularly on BBC Radio’s ‘Thought for the Day,’ and has written for leading newspapers, including the Times, the Daily Telegraph, and the Times Literary Supplement. With his agenda of combining authentic Islamic teachings with a deep understanding of modern challenges, he has become one of the academic world’s leading Muslim voices.
