FAQs
Our accommodation is only available to Muslim students. We give priority to students studying at the College on campus. Students enrolled on our online diploma program, and full time students at other institutions can apply, but we cannot guarantee that we will be able to offer a room.
Our accommodation is available over all terms of the academic year.
However, rooms are not available over the summer holiday period as we run residential programmes.
*Please Note:* In some circumstances, when maintenance is required, students may be asked to vacate their room during half term periods, in which case alternative arrangements will be made by student services and the facilities team.
The rooms in our properties vary in price from £600 per month for a standard single room, to £910 per month for a double ensuite room.
Cambridge Muslim College students are eligible to receive reduced rates. Prospective students are welcome to enquire about this using the form at the bottom of this page.
Rates displayed on this page are reviewed annually and subject to change at our discretion.
All utility bills including electricity, gas, water, and wifi are included in the cost of our rooms. Our houses do not come equipped with television sets and therefore TV licenses are not included.
All houses are provided with wifi, and basic facilities such as washing machines, iron/ironing boards, hoovers, and mops/mop buckets. All houses have shared living spaces, shared kitchens and rear gardens. Kitchens are furnished with cooking utensils, cutlery, crockery, microwaves, kettles, and toasters.
The college provides mattress protectors, however students are expected to bring all other bedding, towels, etc.
Students are expected to keep their rooms and communal areas in a clean and tidy state, in line with the colleges principles of Khidma (service) and Fatuwwa (Islamic Chivalry), and to regularly clean their own bedding. Limited cleaning equipment is provided, however, cleaning chemicals and disposable cleaning equipment such as sponges and scourers are not provided by the college.
All but one of our accommodation houses have rear gardens and external spaces.
Not all of our houses have off or on street parking or cycle racks. Parking permits can be obtained for on street parking from Cambridge City Council. Cambridge City Council heavily promotes cycling, and due to heavy traffic in the city centre it is often quicker and easier to travel on bike. Where possible our houses have cycle racks or cycle storage facilities but this is not the case for all of our properties.
Yes, all of our houses are segregated based on gender i.e. all male or all female residents. Furthermore, students may not invite guests, including family members of the opposite gender into our houses.
No, houses and rooms are allocated by the college based on gender and the gender allocation for any specific house may change year on year, based on the split of male and female students in each cohort.
You will need to provide proof that you are a full time student, and as our houses do not fall within the student accommodation exemption category for right to rent checks, right to rent documentation must be provided (including for UK citizens).
