Tabetha Bhatti

Director of Development and Communications

Tabetha started her career as an educator, specialising in the delivery of leadership and development programs for at-risk youth. She has since transitioned into the PR and communications industry, developing extensive, multi-disciplinary experience, inclusive of all operational aspects of media relations, campaigns, advocacy and social media management. Tabetha is especially passionate about serving and supporting British Muslim communities and has worked for, and with, organisations such as the Muslim Council of Britain, GoFundMe and Ramadan Tent Project in this vein.

Sahara Khanom

Sahara is a qualified finance professional, having started her career in private equity, she also comes with experience from the education and the not-for-profit sectors. Sahara completed her undergraduate degree in International Management (MENA), with a focus on Islamic Finance, from the School of Oriental & African Studies.

Abdullah Cattell

Abdullah, a Southampton Solent University graduate, brings 14 years of Buildings & Facilities Management expertise to Cambridge Muslim College. His vision extends beyond management; he’s devoted to crafting functional sacred spaces by integrating his facility management skills with a profound passion for traditional Islamic sciences. In tandem with his role at the college, Abdullah diligently pursues personal studies in Arabic and the traditional Islamic sciences, guided by esteemed scholars both locally and abroad.

Henrietta Egerton

Henrietta supports the administrative functions of the Chief Executive as well as receiving visits and hosting in-person programmes at the College. She has a degree in Chinese & History from the School of Oriental & African Studies and has previously worked in various international education settings.

Javeria Hamid

Javeria began her career in the Civil Service, notably at the Home Office and then on secondment to The Foreign & Commonwealth Office, where she set up the UK Visas Public Enquiry Unit. With a decade of experience in mainstream education and a CELTA teaching qualification, Javeria takes on the crucial roles of managing admissions for all our programmes and overseeing student development and experience.

Outside of work, Javeria runs the Cambridge team for ‘The Date Project,’ an international initiative dedicated to fundraising for orphans and disaster-stricken Muslim countries.

Dr Zainab Alkhatib

Dr Zainab completed her PhD in Biochemistry in Germany before relocating to the UK. During her time in the UK, she undertook various roles, including that of a Research Associate at Cambridge University. After that, Dr Zainab dedicated her efforts to Cambridge Muslim College, where she played a vital role in overseeing the BA (Hons) Programme and its Academic Framework in collaboration with The Open University. During this period, she was an active member of the Quality Assurance and Enhancement agency, QAA, where she honed her skills in the realm of Quality Assurance which led her to start a new chapter as the Quality Assurance Manager in the College.

Mirina Paananen

Mirina completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Cambridge and then pursued traditional Islamic learning both in the UK and abroad in Egypt and Jordan. She then completed a Master’s degree in Islamic Studies and History at the University of Oxford, with an interest in Qur’an recitation and the musical and aural traditions of the Islamic World. Mirina supports all administrative aspects of the college’s Diploma programmes.

Zahra Hussain

Zahra Hussain has experience working in frontline, charity sector roles, in particular, supporting Muslim women in vulnerable situations, refugees, and people experiencing homelessness. Zahra plays cricket and writes in her spare time. She co-wrote a short play about the Suleymanie Mosque in London that was performed at the Arcola Theatre. She holds a BA in English from UCL and has interests in Islamic ethics, women and spirituality.

Saisha Ashraf

Saisha works within the Marketing & Communications Department implementing comprehensive communication strategies with the aim of heightening the College’s online presence. With a diverse background, she brings a wealth of experience in communications, programme coordination, and various charity sector roles – notably, she spent 6 months working on an EU-funded social cohesion project in Lebanon, fostering stability among youth. Saisha holds a BA (Hons) in Political Science from Richmond, the American International University in London. Beyond her professional endeavours, she actively engages in community service and has a passion for horse polo, photography, and a keen interest in Conflict & Peace Studies.

Nabila Winter

Nabila Winter’s role involves providing support and pastoral care to the students on the Diploma and BA programmes. She has a degree in Arabic from the School of Oriental & African Studies, University of London, and has spent many years in voluntary and youth work.
