Dr Farah Ahmed of Cambridge University delivers a series of lectures about Islam and Education

As part of the Knowledge Traditions module of our Diploma in Contextual Islamic Studies & Leadership, Dr Farah Ahmed of Cambridge University visited our students, delivering a series of lectures about Islam and Education. Students were introduced to key ideas about ‘ilm, ta’lim, ta’dib and tarbiya, all different forms of teaching and education.

Dr Farah elaborated on the philosophical novel, Hayy ibn Yaqzan, by Ibn Tufayl, and its influence on enlightenment writers on education including Rousseau in 18th Century Europe
