Get Ramadan Ready

Keynote Speech & Interactive Workshops

Programme Description

Join us for a transformative day-long immersion designed to deepen your understanding and connection to Ramadan.

This programme will begin with an enlightening keynote address by Shaykh Abdal Hakim Murad. Following this, there will be a diverse range of interactive workshops, delving into the spiritual essence of Ramadan through dynamic discussions and reflective exercises, facilitated by esteemed global teachers.

Participants will have the opportunity to select two workshops from a curated list of four options, each offering unique perspectives on Ramadan’s spiritual dimensions.

We invite you to take this opportunity to prepare your heart and mind for the holiest time of the year.

Workshops

Zakat & Spirituality – Dr Sohail Hanif
We will reflect on a social-spiritual ethic of the sacred law, and the place of zakat in this vision, while situating it within the larger Qur’anic impetus for giving and economic justice. We will also consider the ummah within a person’s relationship with God and look at the key values of the rules of zakat.

Divine Signs – Shaykh Muhammad Kazi
Divine Signs is a central theme of the Holy Qur’an. This workshop shall introduce participants to this important theme by exploring select passages from the Holy Qur’an with the aim of preparing participants to reflect further upon this significant theme in their active reading of Holy Qur’an in the blessed month of Ramadan.

Walking in Their Shoes – Dr Ingrid Mattson
The Words of Allah will never be exhausted (Q 31:27), nor will His meanings ever be fully comprehended by His servants. One way to find direction and purpose for our lives is to imagine ourselves in the position of some of the women and men whose trials Allah narrates in His Book. In this workshop, we will practise engaging in critical and compassionate self-examination by seeing ourselves in the Qur’an.

Embodying Sacred Words – Shaykh Idris Watts
God says in the Qur’an, ‘It is God who has sent down the fairest of messages—a book of perfect consistency and repeated lessons, which causes the skin and hearts of those who fear their Lord to tremble, then their skin and hearts soften at the mention of the mercy of God…’ (Qur’an 39/23) In light of this verse, we will explore in this workshop how to engage with the Qur’an in an embodied way so that we can connect to the Book of God from a deeper sense of ourselves.
