In our latest Tea Over Books discussion, Dr Belal Alabbas joined Shaykh Abdal Hakim Murad to discuss his new book, Al-Bukhārī: The Life, Theology and Legal Thought of Islam’s Foremost Traditionist.
The discussion explored Imam al-Bukhārī not only as the compiler of one of Islam’s most revered hadith collections, but also as a theologian and jurist whose intellectual legacy helped shape the Islamic tradition. Drawing on themes from the book, Dr Alabbas reflected on al-Bukhārī’s engagement with questions of theology, law, hadith criticism, and the relationship between reason and revelation within the classical Islamic tradition.
The conversation also examined the historical reception of Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī, the transmission of the text across generations, and the broader scholarly world in which Imam al-Bukhārī lived and worked.
