Cambridge Muslim College was honoured to welcome Shaykh Yahya Rhodus, Founding Director of Al-Maqasid Seminary in the United States. During his visit, Shaykh Yahya met with Shaykh Abdal Hakim Murad, Dean & Founder of Cambridge Muslim College, to discuss the College’s ongoing activities and vision for the future.
He also spoke with current students, offering reflections on the importance of grounding knowledge in service and devotion. In his address, Shaykh Yahya recounted the inspiring story of Ustadh Omar Waley, a Cambridge Muslim College graduate from the BA (Hons) in Islamic Studies class of 2024/2025, who now teaches at Al-Maqasid.
Ustadh Omar, born and raised in England, moved to the United States in 2016, where he graduated from Al-Maqasid Seminary before returning to the UK to study at Cambridge Muslim College. During his time at the College, he benefited from numerous scholars, including Shaykh Ahmed Saad al-Azhari and Shaykh Maan al-Dabbagh, who was also one of the guests during the visit. Ustadh Omar now continues to pursue his studies while teaching at Al-Maqasid, contributing to its mission of cultivating holistic learning environments rooted in knowledge, devotion, and service.
Shaykh Yahya’s visit served as a reminder of the shared purpose between institutions like Al-Maqasid and Cambridge Muslim College – to nurture scholars who embody the Prophetic inheritance and bring its light into their communities.
