Dear friends and supporters, as-salamu ’alaykum,
It has been a full year here at Cambridge Muslim College!
We’re halfway through the Islamic Year and have just completed the first term of our academic year. The end of 2022 gives us a chance to look back and reflect on everything we’ve accomplished.
We’ve made a number of new hires to help us achieve our strategic aims & visions. This includes our new Academic Director, Dr Talal Al-Azem, our Associate Academic Director & Head of Research Dr Mariam Sheibani, along with key ground staff such as a new Head of Finance, Facilities Manager and we’ve grown our Digital Communications team too.
Our year kicked off with an ambitious Ramadan Programme, where we built an ark and weathered the winds together with our England Cities Tour and Virtual Ramadan Programme culminating with an Eid Garden Party.
We also held a research symposium, bringing together a group of world-class scholars working in epistemology and Islam.
In the summer we launched the third series of our Fifth Pillar Programme, a virtual ‘pilgrimage via podcast’. We also saw a return of our popular in person event, Tea Over Books! Where we were joined by authors such as Leila Abouleila & Paul Sutherland as well as our very own faculty members, Dr Mariam Sheibani & Dr Talal Al-Azem.
We held an in person intensive Summer Programme for our first Islamic Psychology Diploma students ahead of their inaugural graduation. We’ve since formed new cohorts for both our Islamic Studies BA and our online Islamic Psychology Diploma.
This means, for the first time in Cambridge Muslim College history, we now have two concurrent cohorts onsite. Bringing our total number of students to over 60, Alhamdulilah!
This year, we added to our Gazali Collection with another instalment as well as offering a brand new course, by Dr Mariam Sheibani titled ‘What is Sufism’.
We also hosted two in-person events for Shaykh Abdal Hakim Murad’s popular Paradigms of Leadership series focussing on Imam Ali (ra) & Shaykh Ahmadou Bamba.
If you’d like to learn more about our online courses, have a browse through our Online Learning Platform!
Just in the last weeks of this year, we also held a Supporters’ Retreat in the heart of Cambridge where we connected with some of our regular donors and engaged in intellectually and spiritually uplifting dialogue.
If you would like to attend our next Supporters’ Retreat, find out more about how to donate regularly to become a ‘Friend’ or ‘Patron’ of Cambridge Muslim College.
Why not join our community of dynamic supporters, gaining exclusive updates, invites to special events & contribute ideas to directly see the impact of your support!
It’s been a fantastic year, we thank everyone for your support and we look forward to sharing with you all that we have in store for 2023!
