Cambridge Muslim College is delighted to welcome three distinguished figures onto to our Board of Trustees:

  • Dr Humayon Dar brings with him decades of leadership across both global financial institutions and Islamic development bodies. As Founding Director General of the Cambridge Institute of Islamic Finance, he has long been at the forefront of shaping the Islamic finance landscape. His previous roles include Managing Director at Deutsche Bank AG London, CEO of BMB Islamic, and Director General of the Islamic Development Bank Institute. A respected advocate and publisher in the sector, Dr Dar continues to steer some of the most influential reports and awards in Islamic banking, including the Global Islamic Finance Awards and the Global Good Governance Awards.
  • Dr Saiyyidah Zaidi is a a partner at Altair and works with CEOs, senior leaders and their teams, and those on a rapid trajectory to ExCo. As an advisor, mirror and sounding board her work spans self-to-system leadership advisory with a particular expertise in identity, culture, and belonging. She has spent over twenty years in senior roles in both the public and private sector. She left a fast-tracked career in local government to curate a portfolio career focused in two areas: leadership advisory and academic research.

  • Umer Suleman is the Chief Risk Officer at Wahed, a leading ethical investment platform. With a background in economics from Royal Holloway and further training at Manchester Business School and Harvard, Umer has worked across major firms including Ernst & Young. In 2020, he founded the National Waqf Fund, overseeing its successful merger in 2023. His expertise in fintech, governance and Islamic finance education is recognised globally, and he continues to serve on several influential boards.

Their wealth of experience and expertise will be invaluable in helping the College achieve growth and steering the course as we continue on our mission to develop the next generation of Muslim scholars, thinkers and leaders.
