Cambridge Muslim College recently celebrated the graduation of its Diploma in Contextual Islamic Studies & Leadership students at a ceremony hosted by Cambridge Central Mosque. The event marked the successful completion of a demanding year-long programme designed to prepare young ulama to engage with contemporary British society and provide effective leadership within their communities.

The ceremony began with a faculty-led procession, with students and staff making their way into the mosque’s hall. Shaykh Abdal Hakim Murad addressed the graduates, emphasising the importance of contextual Islamic scholarship in today’s world. The highlight of the event was a series of heartfelt Qur’an recitations by the graduates, and a poignant Du’a by the Imam of Cambridge Central Mosque, Hafiz Sejad Mekić.

The Diploma in Contextual Islamic Studies & Leadership programme, designed for Dar al-Ulum graduates and those trained in Islamic sciences, offers a unique blend of academic, vocational, and pastoral elements. Over the course of the year, students engaged in leadership training, pastoral care, and hands-on community work, equipping them to lead effectively in modern Britain.

Following the formal proceedings, snacks and refreshments were provided, giving students, staff, and their families an opportunity to meet, catch up, and commemorate the day with photos.

Cambridge Muslim College extends its gratitude to Cambridge Central Mosque for hosting this memorable event and congratulates the graduates on their remarkable achievements. We look forward to seeing them continue to make a positive impact in their communities.
