We are delighted to announce that admissions are now open for our Classical Arabic (formerly known as Arabic Abroad) programme for the 2025-26 academic year. This full-time, 1 year intensive, in-person language programme offers students a robust introduction to the fundamentals of Classical Arabic, laying the groundwork for linguistic mastery. It serves as the essential first step in the journey toward fluency, preparing students for the deeper, specialised study offered in our BA(Hons) in Islamic Studies programme.
The programme is subject to significant developments, including:
- The Arabic Abroad programme is now known as Classical Arabic, with the design and delivery of the programme having been brought entirely in-house
- The College is looking to secure accreditation by Eaquals; once accreditation as an Eaquals language centre is secured, students that complete this programme will have an internationally recognised language qualification
- A select number of scholarships and bursaries are available for this programme; successful applicants who have secured an offer and require financial assistance will be able to apply for means tested student funding.
- This programme is specifically designed for prospective students of our BA (Hons) in Islamic Studies. However, we also offer a limited number of spaces for external applicants who are not applying to our BA (Hons) programme but wish to study the Classical Arabic language and achieve the same learning outcomes.
- In addition to the three terms of instruction, students will have an opportunity to visit an Arabic speaking country for 4 weeks during the Easter break, providing them with a unique opportunity to strengthen their skills through immersion in an authentic Arabic-speaking environment. Please note: This trip is optional and will be subject to an additional fee.
