Shaykh Hamza Yusuf has been a long standing advocate for the importance of institution building. In our first very YouTube video, he made du’a for the then new Cambridge Muslim College. 

“I think we fail sometimes to recognise the significance of building institutions. The Muslim world was filled with great institutions and it’s something that we’re really suffering from. So it’s really important that we do support what we have, strengthen them, increase the professionalism, and the Cambridge Muslim College is certainly, I think, one of the most important endeavours right now in Western Islam. May Allah give it tawfiq, and give us the himma, the high aspiration to support it.”

Nearly a decade since, we were honoured to welcome Shaykh Hamza Yusuf to Cambridge Muslim College, where he engaged in insightful discussions on a variety of pertinent topics with both staff and students. We also had the opportunity to show him around our growing campus, and thank him for his support.
